Alpha Atlantic Capital was founded by David Grainger, M.D., Steve Skillen, and Manpreet Dhalla. Each partner brings a unique skill set to the partnership, and their diverse backgrounds continue to play an important role in fund decision-making and strategy. Dr. David Grainger - Managing Partner Dr. Grainger is the managing partner and is instrumental in overseeing and managing the fund portfolio strategy. He has over 20 years experience as an owner, manager, and developer of commercial and multi-family property. Dr. Grainger is a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and the Medical Director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Grainger is also a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita and is the Associate Dean for Research. He has previously served as the president of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), the primary organization of professionals involved in assisted reproductive technologies. In addition to these positions, Dr. Grainger has written numerous articles for nationally recognized publications and books.
Dr. Grainger has a B.S. from Wichita State University and an M.D. and Masters in Public Health from the University of Kansas School of Medicine; his postgraduate work also includes a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Yale University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology & Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and he serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Mr. Skillen focuses on the acquisition and financing of portfolio properties. Mr. Skillen has a background in investment banking and financial due diligence for mid-market M&A and LBO transactions. Furthermore, he has experience in the mortgage underwriting of commercial real estate and in real estate asset valuation. His diverse finance and accounting background includes financial modeling, financial market analysis, security analysis, and asset valuation. Mr. Skillen has also contributed to the development of Alpha Atlantic Capital's Demographic/Economic model. Mr. Skillen has a B.S. in Economics (concentration in Finance & Accounting) from the Wharton School of Business.
Manpreet Singh Dhalla - Partner Mr. Dhalla focuses on acquisitions, operations and post-acquisition integration. He has experience in management/strategic consulting. These experiences have translated over to real estate, as Mr. Dhalla is essential in developing the turn-around strategy for each acquired asset and managing this process; he plays an integral part in maximizing EBITDA and investment returns of the Firm portfolio. Mr. Dhalla's economic background is reflected in the Firm's Demographic/Economic model, as he is instrumental in identifying all MSAs in which the Alpha Atlantic Capital invests. Mr. Dhalla graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Economics (concentration in Finance) from the Wharton School of Business.
